I recently transferred to Hughes Spalding ED in the last 3 months and have encountered a very special nurse who places her staff and patients first over her needs at work. Erica Timmons has worked at Hughes in the Emergency Department for over 20 years. She brings a wealth of pediatric knowledge but most of all, compassion to all her customers, from the pediatric patients and their families to her adoring staff members. Every night she works she greets all of her staff with a kind word and asmile while acknowledging the patients and families on her shift. She makes sure the patients and families during her night shift have a warm blanket or food to eat if they have to stay for a long period overnight. This nurse runs her night shift like a well-oiled machine and is able to keep the hectic pace going on the night shift while maintaining respect and appreciation from her patients, families, and staff. She is the first nurse you will see in an emergency and is able to soothe worried parents with her nursing skills, especially with IV insertions. I was honored to have been trained by her and look forward to emulating her truly compassionate skills for others.
