My toes were amputated due to pneumonia which turned into septic shock. I was referred to wound care until my foot healed. All of the nurses in wound care are phenomenal. I never expected to enjoy my time while having a wound packed, but due to their extraordinary care, humor, and genuine concern, I will miss each one of these ladies once my healing is complete. Ericka was my usual nurse. She has so many patients to remember, yet she remembered little details we discussed weeks or months later. I was so impressed with how much of her heart she had invested in the people under her care and I felt lucky to be one of them. A nurse has a profound responsibility, but there is something to be said about a nurse who can put her heart into her job and make you forget about where you are and the struggles I faced. She helped me recover physically as well as emotionally. She provided treatment with the comfort of a friend and I drew strength from the confidence she had in me.
