On Friday, after several days of being short of breath, I went to the ER at Huggins Hospital, where I was treated for pulmonary embolisms. The hospital staff, including Intake, Radiology, and Medical personnel, treated me very well. Of all those with whom I had contact that day, one young nurse named “Erika” truly stood out. In spite of the fact that the ER was quite busy that day, Erika treated me as though I was her only patient. Her positive attitude and level of care, along with her calm and patient demeanor, took much of the stress out of what could have been a most stressful situation. She went so far as to have one of her colleagues call my home the following day to check on my progress.

So dedicated to Huggins Hospital, this young woman drives an hour from her home in Maine to treat the people of Wolfeboro. She is a credit to herself, her profession, her department, and to Huggins. I believe Erika is due whatever awards might be available from Huggins Hospital. Thank you for the opportunity to provide my personal experience with this remarkable nurse.
