March 2024 Honoree
Erika Chao, RN
I am a 65-year-old female who had my yearly exam where pathology reports came back as cancer. I was sent to UCSF, where I met up with Ericka Chao. Her diligence, tireless work, gentle spirit, and smile meant so much to me. If only she had known all the emotional struggles I was going through, especially when it came to bathing and how difficult that had become. She made sure to explain more than a few times to me about how to prepare myself for some of my meds, never once losing her patience with me. I wanted to take her home with me. Over the last year, having gone through procedures involving hospital stays, I have never felt such deep care and devotion from a nurse. Her kind words, education, diligence, and tireless efforts at making me comfortable time after time. Erika even checked on me to ensure everything had been done so my return home was complete, with additional instructions and supplies coming together. Without this nurse’s insight and prayers in all she did for me, what it truly meant, I'm glad to be back on the road to a complete recovery. God Bless Ericka Chao. If only you could clone her.
Thank you, Erika, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
