Erika came to her shift always on "fire" and ready with such a motivating and caring spirit. She was encouraging and really understood the difficulties with my specific case and medicines and followed through on contacting appropriate doctors to get to the bottom of what was needed. I loved to hear her tell me I was doing everything right. This really helped when you went through such a life-changing surgery and you wondered if you made a good decision and wondered if your life will ever get back to normal. Erika made this phase much easier.
When I felt terrible and was discouraged, she again said, "You are doing everything right." She always explained the plan for the day of what I needed to work on and when the shift changed, she did a great introduction to her fellow nurse. Erika really showed she loved her job. Her compassion just wasn't for me the patient, but she was very nice to my caretakers (my sister and my mom). She knew my sister by name and always made sure they were updated and understanding of all that was going on. She made them so comfortable that they felt ok to go home and get rest on day 3. And with her there I felt no fear that they were leaving. Erika is a dynamite staff person who is diligent, takes charge, and is very compassionate and consistent in her care.
