Erika gave 100% of her time focusing on her patient during both shifts she was with us.
Erika was my granddaughter's Nurse in the PICU. When my GD had been paralyzed and intubated, she had an NJ tube, an ART line, 2 IVs, a PICC line, and numerous monitoring devices attached. Erika was able to get organized with the different lines and ensure that the 8 different medications on the pumps were attached to the best sites possible while ensuring the meds were not compatible with each other and were in different ports. Erika is on a whole different level of skill than other nurses that worked with my Granddaughter, which is saying something considering the amazing individuals she works with. We did not have a negative experience with any caregiver the whole time we were there. Erika gave 100% of her time focusing on her patient during both shifts she was with us. Some of the nurses would sit outside the window to monitor my GD, but Erika spent the whole time she was with us even though she had to provide this care wearing a PAPR the whole time. She was also a great comfort to me and was a great conversationalist. She was also willing to listen to me when I shared some tricks of the trade learned from 28 years as a Utah Paramedic, both from Stateside as well as things learned while being deployed into combat zones in Iraq. Erika is a great credit to the PICU and Primary Children's Hospital as a whole. Thank You for the wonderful experience, and for aiding my little 19-month-old GD in returning to full health.
