I was scheduled to get induced with my first baby, and like a lot of first-time moms, I was scared. I had been sent to labor and delivery a few times throughout my pregnancy so I had met Erika before my induction day. When I walked on to the floor and saw Erika, I was so happy. I was very nervous and felt a little less nervous knowing Erika was going to be my nurse that night. She got me settled in my room. I hate IVs and she knew that from me telling her previously. She let me get comfortable and she did a great job getting it in and was very gentle. Throughout the night when I was having contractions she was constantly checking on me and got me anything I needed. It got time for me to need the epidural, at this point I am freaking out and she is talking to me and calming me down. As they were doing my epidural she stood there and let me lean on her and she helped me through the pain. It would have been a lot worse without her. My whole labor experience was so much better because I had a caring nurse. She even stopped in my room the next night, even though she wasn't my nurse. She is a great nurse!
