Erika always goes above and beyond for our patients, but today was another level. We have had a patient on our unit for several months and she has not had a single family member visit. She has some confusion and will often forget she is in the hospital and use the call light to ask for various drinks, often wine or whiskey. As she has been with us for a while and has been lonely, Erika decided to take it upon herself to bring in manicure supplies and 'champagne' (sparkling grape juice) to make the patient feel special. She was over the moon that she was going to have a 'spa day' with her nails clipped/painted and champagne to sip. It was wonderful seeing this sweet patient that happy because of Erika's kindness and compassion.
