"Erika will know" is a common refrain on the Telemetry Unit. But it's more than her incredible, almost unnerving competence that makes Erika a true leader. It's her ability to anticipate what her team needs, to support our staff with unwavering kindness, diplomacy, intelligence, and optimism, and to keep asking us to be better. Erika exemplifies the mission and values of Mercy Hospital. She is a positive, supportive leader who consistently motivates staff and leads by example. Her dedication and teamwork make her an integral part of our unit’s success. She is deeply engaged in all aspects of unit operations, including leading improvements to the telemetry monitoring system to reduce nuisance alarms and mitigate alarm fatigue. Erika collaborates closely with the CUSP team to prioritize patient safety and ensure staffing schedules reflect an appropriate skill mix while remaining responsive to staff needs. She is the backbone of this unit. Not only does she make us all better nurses, but she also makes us better people. She makes me want to have more compassion, more knowledge, more positivity, and more hope for people.
