Erin Brinson was a veteran's primary care nurse in Salisbury. The veteran was a pulmonary patient here at the Kernersville location. I got to work with Erin coordinating care for this veteran who was very sick and in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks. She went above and beyond to care for this veteran. She spoke with the veteran's wife multiple times on the phone and took care of the veteran's needs in a very timely and prompt manner. The veteran ended up passing away in the hospital and Erin took the time to talk to the wife on the phone for at least an hour. She even cried with the wife on the phone. She kept me informed through Skype of the veteran's status while in the hospital so I could cancel and reschedule pulmonary appointments as needed.
I have never met Erin before, she works in Salisbury and I work in Kernersville but I was beyond impressed with the care she gave the veteran and his wife during a very difficult time. Erin showed the ICARE values towards this veteran and his wife. The wife and veteran had a trusting relationship with her and they knew Erin would take care of his needs. She was available, she answered her phone and addressed their needs in a VERY timely manner. I have never met Erin before but can tell you she is committed to her job and the care of her veterans and families. She took the time out of her very busy day to talk to a very scared and worried wife who knew her husband was probably going to pass away. She spent an hour on the telephone with his wife and showed compassion by crying with her.
She showed dignity and respect toward this veteran and his wife. She went above and beyond to care for this veteran and his wife during his last days before he passed away. She talked with the wife multiple times to get him the care he needed. She took the time to listen to the wife, ease her worries and show compassion for her as her husband was in the hospital dying. The wife told me on the phone when I spoke to her how much she appreciated the care from Erin.
Erin gave this veteran and wife excellent care. I am sure she treats all her patients the way she treated this family. She definitely made a lasting impression on me and I have never met her. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
