Erin's positivity and supportiveness are infectious and working in a unit where everyone absolutely loves your unit leader makes it such a great place to learn and grow in my first year of nursing.
Erin is always one of the first people to jump in and help the staff when things are hectic on the ICU or if someone has not been able to take a break. Today is a perfect example of that. There was someone who coded on 4W, and she not only came to the code but she also stayed with her nurse staff in the room once the patient was moved to the ICU to assist with placing IVs, lines, and much more. The ICU is run extremely well thanks to her leadership. This leader has been there with me every step of the way. She is caring, kind, and strives to make sure our team is the best. Not only is she striving to make sure the workplace is on point, she really takes the time to sit down and make sure that her staff is okay, and this makes her involved.

Erin has helped me overcome so many fears I had coming into the hospital setting. I could not think of anyone better to give this award to. Motivating staff to care for our patients and ourselves. Helping to create an environment where we can voice how we feel about the care of our patients and ourselves through monthly meetings as well as an open door. She respects her staff and patients also.

This nurse is amazing. I came to WL from Annie Penn and was immediately drawn to the welcoming environment that she creates. I have worked with a lot of nursing leaders over the years, and while at the time, I was in a different role, I have never seen a leader who is as present and accessible as she is. One day she came straight from meetings in a dress and white lab coat, and when she saw that several of us were struggling to give an enema, she walked right in without a second's hesitation and helped us clean up the patient. There have been several mornings when I am running behind and she will see me still working and ask, "What can I do to help you finish up so you can go home and get some rest?" She will take the meds from me and give them so I can finish charting.

In other jobs, I have often been encouraged to hurry up and get off the clock in the mornings, but without the assistance to make that happen. She does not just talk about creating a positive and supportive work environment, she models it every day. At least a couple of days a week, I will see her walking around in the morning chatting with both the night and day shifts before report. It can be hard to interact with leadership when you work nights so just that simple effort to be present for the night shift as well as dayshift is great.

When I have reached out to her with concerns, she is great about getting back to me in a timely manner and keeping things confidential when warranted. Before I came to WL, I was told by several nurses at AP how amazing she is. Then I started at WL and every nurse I oriented with sings her praises. She is the very definition of a leader. Her positivity and supportiveness are infectious and working in a unit where everyone absolutely loves your unit leader makes it such a great place to learn and grow in my first year of nursing. As a nurse, med errors are inevitable. She made it such a growing experience without the anxiety that can accompany these errors, and she reached out to me immediately and several times after to ask how the process can be improved and what might make the order easier to read. She is also amazing with patients, and I have often seen her stopping to greet patients or their families in the mornings and she passes their rooms. She does not greet them in a perfunctory way or stop in to see her nurses out of duty. She truly cares about making this a great place to work and supporting and encouraging us as we take care of patients.

If I go to her with ideas for how to improve a process, she is fully on board with looking into it and guiding me in the right direction. I have no doubt that she has inspired a higher level of care and compassion in her nurses because she gives us such an amazing example to look up to. This leader has been there with me every step of the way. She is caring, kind, and strives to make sure our team is the best.
