My mother had been admitted to Ascension St. John Jane Phillips on a Friday night for a broken hip. We were told that we would be having surgery the next morning. The morning came, and in walked this ray of sunshine of a nurse, Erin. We had been transferred from Pawhuska and had been in the ER for hours, so we were exhausted. But in came Erin, bright and smiley at 7 a.m. on a weekend. She introduced herself and explained who she was and what she was there to do. I knew from her sweet and kind demeanor that my mom was in good hands. She explained roughly how long the surgery would take, and where we would wait until the doctor came to see us once the surgery was over. She would call us with updates. We had apologized to her for having to come in on a weekend, and that for sure she had better things to do. At that she replied, "I love my job, and I love helping people any time of day or night." Right then, I knew we couldn't have had a better nurse caring for my mom. Thank you, Erin! You were a breath of fresh air during a scary and unsure time. My family will never forget you and all that you did for us. God bless you and thank you for all you do.
