May 2023 Honoree
Erin Herscowitz, Student Nurse
Erin is the type of nursing student to whom the other nursing students look for comfort and support. She is affectionately called "Mom" by her cohort. Students consistently share that Erin helped them with a problem or provided a listening ear. Erin is the kind of nursing student who will thrive as an RN because she works so well in a team, is a great advocate for herself and others, has excellent critical thinking skills, and cares for people to her core.
***
Erin is remarkably kind and embodies nursing in everything she does. Her cohort affectionately calls her mom, and she cares deeply about their health and success. She goes above and beyond to show compassion when people are struggling and is always looking for opportunities to give back. We recently had a guest speaker come to class to discuss homelessness and what nurses can do. Erin approached the guest speaker asking if they accept donations of goods because she was touched by the organization and the people they support and wanted to help them be successful. To me, Erin Herscowitz embodies an extraordinary nursing student and is an excellent candidate for a DAISY Award.

Thank you, Erin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
