In my forty-plus years in healthcare as a clinician (PA) and healthcare executive. I have always tried to install patient a centric approach to patient care. I wish I could say I was always successful. Unfortunately, I was not. My experience with NYU Langone has, in my opinion, come close to that goal. I retired in 2012 and recently had a neurosurgical procedure with Dr. Mogliner and his team, and as expected, they were excellent. However, it was not until I arrived on the 16th-floor post-op and was assigned Erin Keating, RN, that I realized the full extent of NYU’s commitment to patient care. Ms. Keating was always professional, knowledgeable, and empathic to my care for all things, large and small. She was tenacious in ensuring that everyone involved in my care did the same and always with a smile. She was fully committed to making me comfortable, and I was confident in her skill as a nurse. If I had one hundred Erins in the above-mentioned roles, I would have felt closer to my goal of patient-centric care. I would appreciate it if you would take the time out of your busy day to personally congratulate Ms. Keating on a job well done it would be appreciated.
