Erin works in the adult ED, but recently, has been working in the Pediatric ED as well. Apart from her being hardworking, caring, and compassionate, she recently went above and beyond to help the patients, their families, and our nurses in the Pediatric ED. She has been stepping out of her comfort zone to offer her support, to learn, and work in a new environment when we have been down nurses in the department. We recently were very busy with patients in the hallways, a 4.5 hour wait time and all were very stressed and understaffed trying to take care of our patients in a timely manner. When Erin had downtime in her own responsibilities and patient care while working on the adult side, even if it was only 10 minutes at a time, she selflessly came over to the Peds ED to offer her help throughout the night. Her positive attitude and willingness to help has been so appreciated by our patients' families and our nurses. Our staff has recognized her compassion for our patients and their families and think she deserves to be recognized as one of the many outstanding nurses that work at OHSU.
