Erin goes above and beyond for her patients. One day in particular, Erin reunited one of her patients with their dog. The patient was from another state in the Southwest of the U.S. so they were far from home. The patient had to emergently go to the hospital to be admitted, leaving their dog behind. The local sheriff's department took the dog to the animal shelter. The shelter told the patient that if they didn't come get the dog by the end of the day, they would either euthanize it or put it up for adoption the next day. The dog was really a fairly young puppy. The patient had no family or friends in the area to get the dog and made a statement that the dog was their family. Hearing this, Erin didn't hesitate to try to keep the dog with her patient. She made countless phone calls, many of them getting nowhere, and worked vigorously to try to keep the dog from being separated from her patient forever. Within minutes to spare, Erin found a way to get the dog so when the patient was discharged, he would be reunited with his best friend. A very happy ending to a scary and heartbreaking situation for her patient.
