Erin Peitz, RN – The Troy Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses – December 2009 – Troy Beaumont Hospital
Erin Peitz is an exemplary critical care nurse. She goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. She is a great listener and very thorough nurse. In July 2009 Erin had a very ill pulmonary hypertensive patient. She spent 12 intense hours with the patient and her husband. Erin kept all doctors updated with the patient’s condition along with the patient’s family. Her hard work did not go unnoticed; her patient’s husband wrote a beautiful letter to Erin and to Mr. Matzick, President of Beaumont. In the letter the husband described Erin as an “outstanding nurse who saved my wife’s life.” That is expected of an RN I know, like bravery for a soldier, but like soldiers there is something extraordinary, going beyond the “call of duty” that is indeed special and deserves recognition. Soldiers get medals. Hope this letter will at least get one nurse recognition for work beyond her call of duty.”
