November 2023 Honoree
Erin R Paggi, RN
Erin was an amazing nurse through the worst surgery/recovery of my life. After my surgery she cared for me in the post-anesthesia care unit, noticed a complication, and immediately called for help – more nurses came, and she ordered them to call the two doctors out of their other procedures. They determined I needed to go back to the OR for wound evacuation and to cauterize the bleeding vessels. She didn’t want to text my husband the bad news, and I asked permission to make a voice call. I asked if I could tell him the scary news, and she dialed and held the phone for me. She also stayed by my side and provided adequate pain relief for what seemed like two hours until they had an OR, scrubbed, and the doctor had finished his other procedure. I know post-op complications rarely happen, and she handled it with kindness, patience, understanding, and professionalism.
Thank you, Erin R, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
