I want to recognize a nurse in CSICU, Erin Salerno, who often goes out of her way to provide patients with personal quality experiences. Erin has, on several occasions, facilitated patients' bringing in their pet for a visit or the taking of a critical patient that was terminal to the garden for fresh air, to mention just a some of the many caring things she has done. These patients would not have had this last opportunity of fresh air or pet visits had it not been for her efforts. The impact Erin has had on these critically ill patients did not change the outcome of their illnesses, but it brought a smile to their faces and tears of joy to their eyes.

Erin has come up with many other ideas, but often has challenges carrying them out due to lack of or knowledge of certain resources. She is eager to start a team of some sort that can help to identify resources to easily facilitate providing a personal quality patient experience. She already has connected with the Palliative Care team, who is supporting her suggestions.
