I know when I see Erin on the schedule it’s going to be a great day no matter what.
I work with Erin at CHI Health Mercy as an RN. I had the privilege of being precepted by Erin this June when I started as a PRN nurse at Mercy. I was nervous starting my new job at Mercy having 2.5 years of nursing under my belt in Baltimore, being fairly new to the nursing field, and having never used EPIC before (we used Cerner at my previous hospital). Walking in on the first day can be intimidating to say the least.
When the ER Director introduced me to my new preceptor, Erin, she was immediately so warm and welcoming. Erin had a huge smile on her face and I sighed with relief and knew I was in good hands. Not only in good hands but that I had fallen into the honeypot. Erin precepted me for 6 weeks and I am blown away by the amount of kindness, patience, clinical knowledge, and care this woman exudes. I have come to know Erin quite well over the past several months and she is a ray of sunshine in the Emergency Department. She is loving towards literally everyone she encounters, every patient, every staff member, every visitor. Erin remains composed and contagiously calm in an emergency situation.
One of the qualities I admire most about Erin is her sense of humor. She lights up a room with laughter even on the roughest days. I know when I see Erin on the schedule it’s going to be a great day no matter what. She is one of the best nurses, best teammates, and one of the best people I have ever met. Erin is someone I will always hold in the highest regard as a nurse and as a human. She has 4 kids at home, takes care of them, comes to work with a smile, and is ready to jump in with more energy than most. Erin is an angel among us.
