Erin is a breath of fresh air. She is such a smart nurse, who anticipates her patients' needs and is proactive about their care. She always brought my medicines on time and would assess if I was in discomfort to determine if I needed pain medications before I even had to ask. One evening, I did not eat my dinner, and at 5:30 I was hungry. She was going to take the old tray out, but I told her I was now hungry and would eat the food left on the tray. Erin would not let me eat the food and insisted on finding me something fresh to eat. She went to three different nursing units to find me a turkey sandwich tray. She came back with fresh food and a cold drink and removed the old food from my room.
That night, I was able to sleep for several hours, but when I woke up I felt paralyzed. I have cellulitis and many other health problems. I looked up and Erin was bringing in my medications because she saw I was awake and groaning in pain. She informed me that I had been sleeping peacefully and I knew throughout the night that she would be right there if I needed her. I was so thankful to have Erin 3 nights in a row. She knows her patients and can spot changes, good or bad, in their acuity. Her anticipation of her patients' needs is absolutely the best!
