Erin showed true Saint Agnes core values when it came to helping her colleague – and DAISY nominator – draw blood from a mentally ill patient. After several attempts, the patient was still noticeably fearful of the needle. Erin stepped in, sat on the edge of the bed, and began rocking the patient to calm her down, letting her know everything was going to be all right. After the patient was calm, blood was drawn. Erin then gave the patient a hug and told her just how proud she was of her. “Never in my experience have I ever seen a nurse show so much compassion and respect and care for a patient the way Erin did,” her nominator shared.
