Though my husband is a cancer patient, when he was admitted through the ER he was placed on the cardiac wing. He was treated for colitis and during the time he was on an antibiotic regiment, Erin was his nurse. Not only was she more than competent in her care, she attempted to make him comfortable in dealing with pre-existing pain unassociated with cancer or colitis.
During this time, she was aware that my husband was going through the process of making difficult decisions concerning continuing medical treatment. She recognized this and advised him of the services of the palliative care team. Taking advantage of this service helped him immeasurably in comforting his mind and soul in the decisions he made. He is truly grateful for Erin's respect in recognizing not only his medical needs, but his spiritual needs as well.
