I wanted to reach out to you to tell you how much I appreciate the incredibly amazing nurse Erin Tyson Poh. I am a medical interpreter and translator for LPCH, but my indelible experience with Erin was when I was emergently sent to L&D as a patient.

Unfortunately, my husband was on a business trip and all other family members were on vacations abroad. So no one was with me when I stayed in L&D that night and was told that if the regular uterine contractions don't stop, I would possibly go into preterm labor; and since the baby was breach then, I would need a C-section. This news horrified me. I started to think about what it entails to have a 32-week preemie with a C-section and felt very anxious and helpless. Fortunately, Erin was with me the whole night. She quickly and proficiently set up the IV and checked in on me frequently. She brought in water many, many times throughout the night and even bought dinner for me at her break. Her calmness and humor helped me to relax. I really felt the sincere care, compassion, and respect from Erin. Later that night the contractions were finally spacing out.

I am personally very grateful for the entire L&D staff, many of whom I received services from, but I think it's important to highlight true excellence. Erin embodies that excellence, the sincere care from the bottom of her heart, the compassion which already heals half of the patients' suffering, as well as deep respect. Please do something to recognize Erin for her substantive contributions to the patients' care. I, as a patient, do appreciate you for recruiting and retaining such an outstanding nurse!
