She does not simply teach in spite of students' struggles; she meets those struggles with compassion and, in doing so, makes learning possible.
"The knowledge, kindness, and compassion she has instilled in me is something I will carry for a lifetime." That is a profound impact on the future of nursing.
Nursing school demands a great deal of students, both academically and personally. Students and faculty would agree that what sets Professor Voisine apart is her genuine warmth, empathy, and fun spirit, which support her students’ learning.
One student shared that during a particularly overwhelming time, Professor Voisine’s authentic concern gave them the confidence to keep going. She does not simply teach in spite of students' struggles; she meets those struggles with compassion and, in doing so, makes learning possible. She also takes the time to shop, using her couponing skills, to provide students in need access to basic necessities. These gestures are small in effort but profound in message: you are seen, and you belong here.
Professor Voisine's students describe her classroom and lab as engaging and fun. Her accessibility is a hallmark of her teaching: whether through a swift email reply or a dedicated meeting, she ensures her students always have a path forward. This reliability is itself a form of motivation. Professor Voisine does not simply inspire in grand moments; she inspires consistently, in the small ones, too.
Professor Voisine’s commitment to collaboration extends equally to her colleagues. She is the thoughtful person behind the faculty coffee nook, making mid-afternoon specialty drinks with the perfect sprinkle of cinnamon. She is the first to step into a busy lab or simulation to help, and she has become an indispensable resource for our faculty team, serving as our Brightspace Lead and co-authoring an extensive application for submission to the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL). Her investment in the success of our program is every bit as deep as her investment in her students.
