This nurse is an invaluable member of our team. About a month ago, we cared for a patient who stayed with us for three weeks. The patient missed his dog tremendously and longed to go home to be with him. Throughout the patient's stay, this nurse consistently checked on him, engaging in conversations and listening to him share stories about his travels and his beloved dog.

The patient's sisters visited him. The patient and his sisters expressed their gratitude, even bringing in food and sharing tears with our team over the compassion we showed.

Recognizing the bond between the patient and his dog, this nurse sought permission to bring the dog to the hospital garden as a surprise. She coordinated the timing with the sisters and, knowing the patient had been confined to his room for three weeks, told him, "I’m going to get you out of here for a little while." She wheeled him to the garden, wrapping him in a blanket to keep him warm in the chilly air.

At that moment, the sisters arrived with the dog, who was overjoyed to see his owner. Tears of joy filled everyone's eyes, including the patients. He was incredibly grateful and could hardly believe what was happening.
