January 2026 Honoree
Ernie Glenn Salonga, MAN, RN, CCNEP
Before he is a leader and educator, Mr. Ernie Glenn Salonga is a compassionate human being who understands that the best patient care begins with a supported, healthy, and empowered nursing workforce.
As the driving and architectural force behind the "Empowered Nurse" movement at Care Medical Al Rawabi, Glenn's approach to education transcends traditional methods; it is truly transformative, leaving a lasting, indelible impact on every staff member he teaches. He has a unique ability to make learning deeply engaging, enjoyable, and meaningful.
Whether conducting formal training, delivering effective education to staff in high-stakes environments, or making intermittent rounds in acute units like the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), he remains an absolute pillar of support. He is an exceptional teacher whose explanations are highly effective, consistently helping staff navigate complex clinical situations and guiding them out of difficult operational problems.
What sets Glenn apart is his exceptional ability to cultivate empathy and compassion within the learning environment. His teaching style is patient, kind, and accessible, ensuring that no staff member ever feels shy, uncomfortable, or judged. He ensures everyone completely grasps a topic before encouraging them to synthesize their own key clinical points and advance.
Furthermore, he proactively checks in on his colleagues during their duties, actively asking about their challenges and jumping in to help. When staff members approach him with doubts regarding patient care, he never hesitates to answer, patiently breaking down concepts with practical, real-world examples.
His visionary leadership is especially felt in the hospital's most critical, high-stakes sectors, including the ICU, CCU, IMCU, Stepdown ICU, and CathLab. Through his dedicated leadership, Glenn builds the robust clinical systems that ensure nurses are never merely task-oriented but are instead fully equipped to find their voices, build absolute confidence in their skills, and truly excel in their practice.
Through his role leading the Advocacy Council, he has become a vital, flexible, and cooperative voice for the nursing community, delivering information and support that fundamentally shapes long-term healthcare careers. He is a true inspiration to all staff.
