I am an officer of the First Scout Ranger Regiment, Philippine Army. As soldiers, we expect to face physical and mental challenges. What you don't always expect is to meet someone in uniform whose quiet strength and compassion leave a lasting impact. During the time of staying at our medical dispensary following an injury sustained during our training of Scout Ranger Orientation Course, I had the privilege of being under the care of SSg Erwin L Galgo (MS) PA. He is not only an extraordinary military nurse, but also a person whose presence and professionalism in military medicine and healing are remarkable. When I arrived at the dispensary, I was dealing with boils on my left foot. SSg Galgo introduced himself with a calm and reassuring demeanor that immediately put me at ease. His clinical care was flawless. He managed my wound. He noticed when I was in pain, even if I didn't speak up. He could tell when my motivation was low and offered encouraging words to lift up my morale. SSg Galgo exemplifies everything a military nurse should be: skilled, selfless, attentive, and deeply humane. For his exceptional service, unwavering compassion, and countless ways he uplifts those around him, especially those cadets/soldiers who undergo training.

Thank you, Erwin L, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
