Esteffany Fernandez
Esteffany, a nursing student at Chamberlain University, has been selected as a DAISY Award honoree for exemplifying compassion, dedication, and excellence in nursing practice. She was nominated by a peer who witnessed her consistently go above and beyond during clinical experiences to ensure patients, families, classmates, and faculty felt supported, respected, and understood.
Esteffany combines strong clinical knowledge and confidence with genuine empathy, remaining calm and patient even in stressful situations while clearly explaining care to patients and encouraging her peers. One especially meaningful example described how she took extra time to sit with an anxious patient, calmly explaining a procedure and offering reassurance until the patient felt at ease—demonstrating that presence and compassion are just as vital as technical skill. Through these and countless other moments, Esteffany embodies the DAISY Award values of compassionate care, advocacy, integrity, and a profound positive influence on the nursing community.
