August 2026 Honoree
Ethan Hernandez, RN
Ethan received multiple nominations; however, the strongest nomination highlights extraordinary patient advocacy and commitment beyond his assigned shift.
A family member of a patient with Down Syndrome shared that Ethan recognized the patient could not safely take medications in pill form. Rather than simply completing discharge tasks, Ethan worked through a lengthy, stressful process to find a pharmacy that could provide the medication in liquid form. Most notably, Ethan remained beyond the end of his shift to ensure the patient's needs were met before discharge.
The nominator described Ethan as: "Truly a caring and amazing nurse" who "stayed beyond his shift to make sure that my son's needs were going to be met." A separate patient nomination described Ethan as personable, attentive, and responsive, noting he consistently took time to listen and respond to concerns following a total hip replacement.
