In September, I was home with my kids as my husband was out of state on a trip. I did not feel right (quick onset headache, heavy arms, weakness in my legs). I called 911 and was transported by ambulance to the ED. I am only 54 and in great health but I had a stroke! I was admitted and spent the next 3 nights in 5E. To say I was scared was an understatement. My husband had to fly home from Oregon, my minor kids had to stay with a friend and the great doctor in ED told me how lucky I was that I called 911. On two days in September and October, I was truly blessed to have RN Ethan Nicholls as my nurse. He took such great care of me, made me laugh, explained everything, answered my questions, allayed my fears, made sure I stayed in bed and did not set off the bed alarm, and made me feel not so scared. Ethan is really something special. I want you to know that while so many in the medical profession are good and competent, Ethan Nicholls is extraordinary. He really does the job for the right reason, and it was clearly evident how much he cares about his patients and the pride he takes in helping others. How professionalism, caring, humor, and skill reflect well on the Torrance Memorial Hospital and I hope he gets a commendation that is well, well deserved. Thank you.
