Eugene "Gene" L Maylock, RN

Two nominations for Gene were submitted online one day apart.

First:

Meeting Gene was a breath of fresh air. He shook my hand, then introduced himself. I immediately felt comfortable, like I had known him my whole life. He is the one RN that I wish every hospital had.

He came and sat down beside me, and we talked for quite a while. He told me a little about himself, then I did the same. Gene has been absolutely amazing to me. I truly and honestly believe he deserves this award for being such a great person and for being a wonderful RN. This morning, he had a couple of students he was helping teach how to do things on this floor, and he was so informative and explained everything so clearly that even I could understand him.

Yes, there are other great nurses here, but for me, Gene is the RN that really deserves this recognition and honor for being such an awesome human being.

Second:

Gene was so very kind and attentive to all our needs every time. He truly showed that he cared about us by remembering little details like how we took our coffee or where we were from, and he never forgot about us at all. He truly shows he cares about us, and he was so much fun all the time while doing his job. Gene makes things easier for patients here and for everyone else too.
