I was admitted to Arrowhead due to a car accident that left me with a fractured pelvis, coccyx, femur, and L5. I’m writing to let you know about the treatment I received while under the care of your unit. I would like to start out by saying suffering the injuries that I have suffered was not only the most painful experience I have ever been through but, also the most detrimental to my mental health! Not being able to do most basic things from moving around to bathing and grooming. It’s a very humiliating and embarrassing feeling to have to call on another to clean you because you have soiled yourself. To add insult to injury, I can honestly say the unknown on when I would be able to walk again and when I would be independent and self-reliant. This deepened my depression. I had laid in bed so many nights quietly, weeping. I am not one to show my emotions, but this experience had been one I had trouble fighting back the tears on multiple occasions.

With that being said, I can honestly say I had received the best care I could have imagined. Most of your nurses have been very kind and professional, however, I would like to bring to your attention, Ed. Never once under his care did I feel embarrassed, depressed, or in need of any sort of assistance. Not only did this nurse have impeccable bedside manners, but he also took care of my mental health. When I think of him caring for me, he is the true definition of what a nurse should be. I couldn’t have achieved as much as I’ve done without his help, guidance, and encouragement. He made me feel human again in an otherwise depressing and difficult situation!

My only regret is that I couldn’t properly thank him for all the help they have given me! So, this is my way of being able to do so! I hope you will find some way of thanking him for me and recognizing that he is a diamond in the rough! He truly deserves some sort of recognition for his hard work and dedication!
