Eun Hye Kim, DNP, FNP-C, L.Ac, MSCN
Eun Hye works in the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Clinic at the Stanford Neuroscience Health Center. I am a neurologist in the same clinic and have observed her work for the past 9 years.
Eun Hye is an exceptionally kind, gentle, caring, and hard-working nurse who exemplifies all of the values of the SHC nursing mission. She is quietly dedicated to serving her patients. At a personal level, she is a pleasure to work with and is very well-liked by patients and colleagues.
Eun Hye is very experienced at managing multiple sclerosis and other neuroinflammatory conditions. MS is a chronic neurologic condition that can be unpredictable and intrusive and presents many challenges for patients and their families. MS affects women at about a 3:1 ratio and peaks at 20 - 40 years of age, a time when many women are building a family and career. The MS clinic is busy, and the nurses work very hard, looking after all the patients and their many family needs. Eun Hye has a gentle, calm manner, is unhurried and softly spoken, and always maintains a compassionate, reassuring presence.
People living with MS experience a wide range of symptoms, and care requires a comprehensive approach. Eun Hye believes in a holistic approach and has expertise in both Western and Eastern medicine. She describes her philosophy as being “committed to providing patients with outstanding care and support to help improve the quality of life”.
This is a note from an MS patient: “I want to express my deep appreciation for Eun Hye Kim. Whenever I see a message from her in my health portal inbox, I feel a sense of relief and even excitement - because I know my request will be handled with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency. During my medical leave, I needed paperwork submitted to my insurance, and she supported me by promptly uploading everything through the portal. Her responsiveness and attention to detail made a stressful situation much more manageable … I feel a personal connection to her, as someone who genuinely cares and is there to help and support me. That kind of experience is rare these days, and I truly appreciate it.”
I have not kept a list, and this is only one example of many patients I have seen who have mentioned Eun Hye’s work and have asked me to thank her.
In terms of excellence in education, Eun Hye is well qualified, holding a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree and being a licensed acupuncturist with a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MSOM). Despite a heavy clinical workload, she completed the coursework and examination for the Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN) program through the Consortium of MS Centers and completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.
In summary, I cannot say enough good things about Eun Hye, who exemplifies all of the best attributes of the nursing profession. She is much appreciated by our group for her kindness, compassion, gentle manner, and dedication to her work. She is very humble and selfless and tends to deflect praise. She is highly deserving of this recognition for her work, and it is important to let her know how much she is appreciated by her patients as well as her colleagues every day.
