She would come in at night when he couldn’t sleep and just talked with us. Her just casually chatting, especially at night when sleep was nowhere in sight, relaxed him so much.
My fiancé fractured his neck in a motorcycle accident resulting in an incomplete spinal cord injury. After spending three weeks in the hospital already, he came to the IP Rehabilitation unit for a little over two weeks. My fiancé has had a lot of ups and downs, we both have honestly, while we’ve come to terms with his injury. Things, he used to enjoy no longer interested him, even basic things like sleeping and eating. No matter what we tried he couldn’t sleep and due to the fact, he can’t feel when he is hungry, he had no appetite and wouldn’t eat. The first week we were here Euphrasia was our night nurse on multiple occasions. Not only was she super nice and attentive. She also went out of her way to help with the things mentioned above. She would come in at night when he couldn’t sleep and just talked with us. Not just talk about the accident either, which my fiancé has had enough of, but just life in general, plans, family, etc. Her just casually chatting, especially at night when sleep was nowhere in sight, relaxed him so much. Not only did it relax him, but it distracted him too! While she talked, she’d just casually pick up his food and start feeding him bites. Before you know it, she’d had gotten most of his meal into him and he’d be falling asleep by the time she was done talking. As I will be the caretaker for my fiancé, Euphrasia was very kind to help teach me things I would need to know in order to take care of my fiancé. She is truly a wonderful and caring nurse and person.
