Ric has made a great impact on this unit
Eutropio “Ric” Zayas goes above and beyond every single day, devotes himself to his work, and treats every day like his masterpiece. He is the gem of the Dialysis unit at Beaumont Troy.
Ric is our leader, our go-to person, and believe me or not, the "mother" of our unit.
As a leader, Ric is our UPC chair and has embraced this unit making sure we have decent meetings and presentations, bringing people in to educate the staff, finalizing our UPC minutes, and making sure everyone has read and acknowledged them. He always asks what else this unit may need. Ric always says, "I want our dialysis unit to be known and respected."
Ric is one of the brains for our dialysis education materials. He initiated updating our unit website for it to be more informative and useful. And as a great nurse and a team player, Ric always checks that everyone has done their job, goes from logs to logs, checks our sharps containers and our bins, making sure everything is done just right. He will not mind staying over if needed, and if someone has to stay, Ric will make sure to make it easier for the ones staying, whether preparing the spot to clean the machines, or getting supplies ready for us. He just never stops.
You will never hear a complaint from Ric. And I have met people like him too, but what makes him different from others is his consistency. The little things that he does every day, the many "Thank you Ric"s that you hear from other nurses at the end of the day, they’re never-ending. We have been blessed for four years now since he joined us and for four straight years, Ric has never stopped and is even getting better every day. His passion and commitment to this unit are incomparable.
Ric has made a great impact on this unit. He influenced us to be great dialysis nurses, and he inspired us to be better and do more every day. We respect Ric and we acknowledge his work.
