In the last hours of the patient’s life, the nurse prayed with them and stayed past her shift to be with the family when she passed.
A wife of a patient told us, “Every day (she) worked has been amazing.” She goes on to say how this nurse demonstrates the consistency of care by keeping her informed on his progress, keeping him turned so that he does not get a bed sore, and showing compassion for her patients. She states, “I've worked with a lot of nurses, and I have never seen a nurse more dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate.”

Another family expressed their gratitude for this nurse’s compassion and servant heart. End of life is a difficult transition for patients, families, and those that care for them. It takes a great deal of compassion and empathy on the part of the nurse. After the patient communicated her desire for Cracker Barrel mashed potatoes, the nurse went to get them after her shift. On another day, after hearing the patient liked a particular kind of smoothie, she brought her one. In the last hours of the patient’s life, the nurse prayed with them and stayed past her shift to be with the family when she passed. The family feels that God put her in their mom's life to help her pass over to Heaven.
