Nurse Eva has been working in the labor room for 20 years. She gives the best and professional clinical health care. She is always optimistic, passionate, and loves to share her experiences. One time, a 34-year-old woman who was 29 weeks pregnant came to the hospital due to membrane rupture. Since she was at advanced maternal age and it was her first baby, she got scared and worried about the baby's safety and premature birth. The parturient said to Eva, "This is my first child. I am so anxious and guilty about the sudden water break. I don't know if I can make it to full term and give birth to my baby successfully."
During the period, Eva supported the parturient with professional health care and treated her like her family. She cared for her and accompanied her and gave her proper nursing instruction and information. She also shared some successful cases to comfort her. What was more, when the parturient was confined to bed and felt sore on her waist, Eva massaged her back and waist and taught her breathing relaxation techniques. With the consent of the doctor, she let her sit in the wheelchair and walked with her in the hallway. The parturient said that her mood was lightened up after looking outside the windows and that although she would have to stay in the hospital for a while, she was confident she could make it through. Eva felt relieved and got sense of fulfillment.
In the end, the parturient went into labor in full term. The baby and mother were both safe and sound. One month later, she wrote a letter to thank Eva for caring for her mentally and physically. She got a lot of comfort and support during a hard time. She appreciated Eva for caring for her with compassion.
