hen Eva found out the kids hadn't eaten all day, she went to CFA to buy them some food with her own money.
Eva was able to diffuse a tense situation with a mom who had been involved in an MVC with her three children. She was upset and had not had a good interaction with EMS prior to arrival. Initially, mom was uncooperative, having left her cell phone on the scene; she was very upset. Eva was able to talk to the mom calmly and rationally about what had happened and about how we could help her. Eva explained that we wanted to see them and take care of them and that we would help her get her phone back. She expedited their triage and got doc in the room to see them. When Eva found out the kids hadn't eaten all day, she went to CFA to buy them some food with her own money. She made what started out as a bad day a little bit better by just showing genuine kindness and compassion.

DPS was dispatched to the ambulance bay due to a verbally aggressive woman being brought in by national EMS. Eva Mae came to see what was going on and saw three small children who were scared. Mrs. Carignan went and spoke with the kids to make them feel more comfortable. The social worker spoke with the mom to calm her down while Eva Mae got the kids triaged. The kids expressed to Eva Mae that they had not eaten and were hungry. Eva Mae got her wallet and immediately went to Chick-fil-A to buy the kids meals and drinks. Mrs. Carignan stayed with the kids during their time in the ER and made sure everyone was safe and taken care of.
