An older gentleman with end-stage heart disease, who was caring for his wife at the time, was admitted to Hahnemann University Hospital after an injury. The patient was emaciated to the point that they were too weak to swallow without aspirating. In just one week, the patient's heart failure stabilized, and with nutritional support, he was able to swallow and eat soft solids. During their hospitalization, Evan Boguszewski recognized the patient's love for food, so she decided to go to Whole Foods to get him some tomato soup and some frosted cookies. This was a pure and random act of kindness for the patient and made a huge difference in their overall experience.
