January 2024 Honoree
Evan Rinnyk, RN
My 20-year-old brother was admitted to SICU following a freak motorcycle accident. He stayed there until he was transferred to hospice one day before he died. Evan was “our” night nurse for a significant amount of my brother’s time in SICU. He provided compassionate care to both my brother and my family, who were always present. Evan was a pillar for our family whenever he was working and supported us through the most difficult time in our lives. Not only did he give exceptional medical care, but he also treated my unconscious and intubated brother with respect and dignity. I will never forget the impact that he had on me and my family. Evan showed up on his day off to be a significant part of my brother’s “hero walk” to the OR for the sharing network. After my brother died, Evan continued to show his support and compassion to my family. If there is a rating score, Evan is a 10/10.
Thank you, Evan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
