Eva's work ethic and compassion are exemplary and without her resourcefulness, our patient would have deteriorated further.
Evangeline (Eva) cares for one of my patients with Huntington's Disease who is wheelchair-bound and gravely disabled. She is a high aspiration and fall risk but does not comprehend her limitations. She refuses to eat facility pureed food that has been deemed to be the softest for her. Eva goes above and beyond the call of duty, thinking, and devising creative ways to encourage her to eat her pureed food. She transfers the food to containers that appear like the food is ordered from the outside and mixes it with her nutritional supplemental drink. She patiently feeds the Veteran and pretends that she herself is also eating the same textured food to encourage her. Eva's work ethic and compassion are exemplary and without her resourcefulness, our patient would have deteriorated further.

Eva has worked so hard with a Veteran who has Huntington's Disease to make sure she understands her nutritional needs. She puts her liquids in Dixie Cups and brings her meals in a brown paper bag because the Veteran would (eat) drink it only if it came from "Door Dash". She works with the Veteran's condition and really makes her quality of life better. She notifies the Doctor and modifies her plan of treatment accordingly. What a Rock Star!
***
Eva has displayed sympathy and sincerity when caring for a difficult Veteran. She is in tune with the needs of the patient and is willing to be creative to accommodate the needs. She has gone above and beyond to assist the patient while keeping a positive attitude.
