Evanne took the time to care about my medical needs and listen.
Evanne Segress went way above and beyond her scope of work during my care at St. Johns Radiology. On my first visit, she showed great compassion and understanding when it came to my treatment. I explained to her that I am a disabled veteran and have severe anxiety and PTSD-she immediately put me at ease. I was in to get a port for future chemotherapy infusions, but I told her that I was in NADIR and I just had a bad ANC count. I asked if getting my blood checked would be good, and she immediately took action. The blood test showed that my ANC count was worse than it had been previously. She and the doctor immediately told us that a port was unadvisable due to the possibility of infection. This could have had a terrible outcome if she hadn’t been responsive to my concerns. Based on a follow-up call from St. Johns, my husband called the Radiology department. He ended up talking to Evanne, and she remembered exactly who we were, and he explained to her that I was just in the infusion center receiving chemo that day but that my ANC count was much better than before. He told her that the cancer center had another port appointment but that I would be in NADIR again. He asked if there was any way to get me in that week before the ANC count dropped off again. She put him on hold, called scheduling for us, and then got back on the line and asked what day would be convenient for us. My husband scheduled it for the next morning. We arrived at St. Johns, and Evanne was there to greet us with her own special kind of care. Thanks to her professionalism, kindness, and concern, we were able to get to the port with no bad side effects. Evanne took the time to care about my medical needs and listen. My husband and I greatly appreciate this kind of care. We found this individual attention impressive based on our recent experiences in the medical community. You should be proud to know that you have an employee who cares so much about her patients. I would recommend anyone I know to go to St. John’s Hospital based solely on the care we received from Evanne.
