I first met Evette when I started picking up extra shifts at our Med Center DB location. She was very welcoming and thankful whenever I would pick up extra shifts there. It did not take long for her to encourage me to officially join the team and transfer to our High Point location. Evette is the epitome of a great nurse leader. She was engaging and genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person and my professional goals. She made me feel valued and that I am not just a "staff" filling in hours/shifts.

She is very supportive and provided me with crucial guidance and assistance to advance my degree. She connected me with my first preceptor, and as if that was not enough, she would help me out yet again. I was in our break room one day on a lunch break, and she came in asking me how I was doing and how my school was. She immediately recognized that I was feeling down. When I shared with her that I am struggling to find a preceptor for my pediatric rotation, without hesitation she told me she would reach out to her resources. I was just in awe and could not believe how lucky I am to work with a leader that is willing and goes above and beyond to support their staff in their professional journey. I know that wherever my career takes me, Evette has my deepest gratitude. If somewhere down the road I get to return the favor to another, it's because Evette created that kind of environment for me and set an example of an impeccable nurse/leader.
