RN, BSN
Intensive Care Unit
Methodist Hospital Texsan
Fabiola brought her own personal recording device and let the family record messages that she played for him frequently while in the room.
We had a patient who was COVID-19 positive and was on a ventilator for several weeks. Because of the restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19, his family was unable to visit him during this long and challenging time. While many nurses caring for him told him his family loved him, Fabiola took it a step forward.
She brought her own personal recording device and let the family record messages that she played for him frequently while in the room. She also gave the family her work email to send family photos to be posted around the room for him. She took steps nobody else thought of to care for both the patient and his family. She in an incredible, thoughtful, and caring nurse who goes above and beyond for her patients. The family was so grateful for her actions they were in tears. I know how she has had an impact that will last the rest of their lives.
