When Fadwa left the room on a mission, we knew she would return immediately with an answer, update, or plan.
I was recently a patient at UNC Rex Heart and Vascular Hospital. My medical problems began with complications from lithotripsy, which dominoed into A-Fib, pneumonia, and other issues. Fadwa was my nurse for two days at UNC Rex and the charge nurse for a third day. Fadwa is a consummate medical professional. It was immediately apparent that she is knowledgeable, experienced, and good at what she does. She was an excellent communicator and patiently explained lab results, trends, and procedures (sometimes repeatedly!) in a way my family and I could understand.
Fadwa has a very calming presence, which my family and I greatly appreciated as we were all apprehensive about my situation. Fadwa was calm, deliberate, purposeful, and proactive in her actions. When Fadwa left the room on a mission, we knew she would return immediately with an answer, update, or plan. Knowing she was on top of my medical care was very reassuring. Fadwa also has very strong and admirable leadership skills. She regularly communicated with other team members and shared information with them about my medical condition, progress, diagnosis, etc. These often felt like teaching moments, and her professionalism and willingness to help educate other team members were admirable. Regardless of the task, Fadwa always did what needed to be done, whether it was her responsibility or not. She never passed off the less desirable tasks to the nursing tech if she could do it herself. Fadwa checked in on me more often than was required. She was constantly popping in for wellness checks and coming in to complete her medical tasks. Fadwa went above and beyond what was needed. Thank you to Fadwa and the UNC Rex team for excellent care!
