Faith DeLoach, RN

I could write a book about all that Faith did and said to help my family. My dad was in NSICU with brain cancer, and the first time I met Faith, I immediately felt like she was family. She would sit with us and answer questions, talk with us, and really just made a horrible time better. My dad was in and out of the ICU multiple times, and during this time I was supposed to have my wedding. Faith and the rest of the Grandview Neuro ICU nurses heard of this and immediately started planning a wedding in the hospital chapel, so my dad could be a part of it. They went all out! Faith and the other nurses bought bouquets, decorations, flowers, backdrops, cake, and even hired a photographer for the special day. Faith came in on her day off to make this happen. I have never felt such love from someone I have known for such a short time. I asked her why she is doing all of this, and I already knew. It’s because she truly loved and cared for my dad and family - more than a nurse has to. She did more than just her job; she went above and beyond.
Working in a field as she does, a neuro ICU unit takes a special kind of person. But Faith is more than just what is required of her. She would bring my dad food, make him ice cream floats, make sure my mom and I were always comfortable and had what we needed, and went above and beyond in every way. After a few months in the hospital, my dad was put on hospice. Faith drove an hour and a half to come visit us at our house to sit and talk and make sure we were doing okay. She truly became more than a nurse; she is a friend. There are not enough words to express how much she deserves this Award and more. My dad passed, and the funeral was held shortly after. Faith and a few from her team drove over an hour to come show their support for us. Over and over again, she showed up for us and loved us. I believe a special nurse is someone who does their job and does it well, but Faith did even more than that. She has a heart of gold, and I don’t think there could be anyone who deserves to be recognized more than her.
