When entering the building you see "Superheroes Work Here". Well, it is one thing to say that but another to see a superhero in action. My mother has been on the floor twice. I first observed this busy nurse who appears to be a fill-in where the needed person being super busy. On a crowded floor, she would always speak, ask if I needed anything, and provide what was needed. My mom was extremely incontinent and she cleaned her with much patience. I asked her if she enjoyed being a nurse and she smiled and replied yes. I do not see her as a career nurse. I see her as someone called to the profession. She kept us updated with what was in Mom's chart from the multiple doctors. I learned that this was her second career. She is a veteran. This hospital is fortunate to have her here. There are many wonderful doctors, nurses, and support staff members, but she stood out for her willingness to keep patients informed, call them to let them know they can come after the COVID test, and do all she can for her patients and their family members.
