She would be so kind and gentle with my baby. Just by observing the way she treated him and coworkers and families that would come into the NICU, we knew our baby was in great hands.
My baby was born via emergency c-section and had to be taken to the right away. He was kept in the for 8 days. During this time, my husband, my older son, and I were going completely out of our minds, not knowing when we would be able to take our baby home and how long it would take for him to get better. The team had done everything possible to help keep us in the loop of what was going on, never made us feel like we were in the way, and they were extremely supportive towards us. They not only cared for our baby with so much kindness and love, but also during my stay in the hospital, they were observant towards my needs during this time, while I was recovering and visiting my baby. The emotional rollercoaster that we were on during this time cannot be described in words. The pain that I felt leaving the hospital without my baby and knowing that he would be staying there without me was unbearable. I was completely broken during this time. The team, however, did everything to make me feel welcome to visit as long as I wanted to and as many times as I wanted to, I was never rushed, never made to feel like I was in the way. While there, all my questions and concerns were addressed. Without even asking, they would help me do skin-to-skin. I was constantly afraid to ask to hold him because my baby was connected to a bunch of wires and tubes, but the nurses saw my need to hold my little one, and his need as well, and helped us achieve that. Every time they would help me hold him, he would calm down, his breathing would be better, and it was just a feeling that cannot be described unless someone has ever experienced it themselves.
One nurse was beyond kind and helpful. She was patient with all our questions and concerns, she would help us hold the baby and care for him while he was connected to all the tubes and wires. She would be so kind and gentle with my baby. Just by observing the way she treated him and coworkers and families that would come into the NICU, we knew our baby was in great hands. I could tell that she loved what she did, because she took care of our baby with so much love and gentleness. I never felt worried or stressed when I was taking care of our son. Farrah allowed me to take charge and change my son's diaper, feed him when the time came, and spend as much time as I wanted to. The day I came in and saw that my son had no tubes, no nasal canula, and was just swaddled up in his little blanket, she was there, telling us Surprise!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for all you have done, for the love that you have for this specialty, for caring for these babies, and for helping families get through one of the most difficult times that families may encounter! You all are beyond amazing, once again, thank you!
