Fatina Caldwell took care of a young girl who is end of life. The patient expressed how she loved volcanos and wished she could go to Hawaii. This was cool because Fatina was about to leave for vacation to Hawaii in a few days. She came home with gifts for this patient. She bought her a Hawaiian doll. She also brought back a lava rock since the patient loves volcanos. But the sweetest thing she did was make a photo-book filled with pictures of Hawaii. She even wrote the little girl's first name in the sand and took a picture of it, so it was like the patient was there in Hawaii. This exemplified excellence in nursing care, practice with passion and connecting with patients through emotional support.
